Well, ‘Snowpocalypse’ is over but we hear more is already on it’s way! With the power going on and off over the last several days we’re guessing there was some pretty quick hair washing & drying going on before the lights flickered again!

I figured y’all may get bored of my rambling so I invite clients to d0 guest posts once in a while to keep it interesting. First up, Jessica- an event planner & marketing manager here in C-ville who recently took the challenge of trying some new products. She called today with an update so I asked her to start blogging…let me know if you’re up for the Nuckles challenge!

“I have always believed that any random shampoo or conditioner that I grabbed off of the shelf at the nearest Target or CVS was just fine for me. And, I refused to use any ‘product’ because I was convinced that it made my hair feel greasy. Recently, I told Jonathan about my theory and before I knew it I became his experiment. He gave me the Aquage Color Protecting Shampoo (I guess he thinks the box color that I also believe in needs all the help it can get! ha ha!), Aquage Healing Conditioner and Aquage Volumizing Treatment. And, he made me promise to be honest about the results. Well, as determined as I was to be ‘right’ I have to admit that I did notice a big difference after a few days. I have learned that no matter what ‘brand’ you use, it really does make a difference when it’s ‘prescribed’ by a stylist specifically for your hair type. On Saturday, I even got brave and tried the Volumizing Treatment instead of my normal straightening routine. Maybe it’s because I never use products but I noticed a HUGE difference…it was king of fun to have ‘bigger’ hair for a day and I even notice a lot more volume the followng morning when I pulled my hair back for a run. I admit it- I lost the battle! No more $1.99 shampoo for me!”

The salon is usually closed on Mondays so it gives me time to reflect on the week. Recently, several people have come in talking about this Curly Girl Method that tells people not to wash curly hair AT ALL. Really? That is just gross. It makes your hair smell & takes away the shine. Stop it!
Curly hair solutions are great marketing concepts because people who have it know it’s challenging and are always looking for a quick fix. It’s not about using (or not using) shampoo- it’s about using the RIGHT shampoo! I would suggest one of Aquage’s sulfate-free options. Call or stop in for advice on which product is the best fit for you but PLEASE keep washing your damn hair!

I love Aquage hair products! My favorite right now is their Color Protecting Shampoo. Everyone else must love it too because it just won Best Shampoo fo r Color-Treated Hair. We have it at the salon so come see us to pick up a bottle.
